Robert Allen

For more than 75 years, Robert Allen has been serving the residential and hospitality design community by offering premium fabrics, luxurious furnishings and ground-breaking design services that are relevant and timeless.

Our story began in 1938, when Benjamin and Esther Weissman founded the company in Boston, later naming it for their two sons, Robert and Allen. Through the years we pioneered the broad distribution of fabric books and were the first to organize fabrics by color with our renowned Robert Allen Color Library.

In fact, our design philosophy centers on color, and we’ve circled the globe seeking inspiration and working with mills in far-flung places that align with our principles. Our tireless efforts have not only resulted in thousands of colors, but thousands of the right colors.

 Duralee

Combining lasting designs with emerging innovative talent, Duralee is one of the interior design industry’s most exciting fabric brands.  The company began, aptly enough, when the country’s pulse quickened.  Returning from World War II, Lenny Silberman faced changing times.  The world was inching in a different direction, and by 1947 it was already evident to Silberman, as he walked the streets of New York, that the future “was what you made it,” he asserts.

Never subtle, Silberman answered an ad in The New York Times promising “a HUGE opportunity” as a textile shipping clerk for $35 a week, landed the job, and went to night school to expand his industry knowledge and learn the fine art of selling. Together with his two partners – Sig Rosenberger and Marshall Kutz – and seven other hands-on employees, Silberman launched Duralee in 1952 from an office smaller than most modern-day walk-in closets.

 Sunbrella

For a brand that started out as an industrial-grade awning fabric in only six colors, Sunbrella fabrics have come a long way. From awnings to marine to casual furniture, Sunbrella fabrics have led the industry with extensive styles and colors while providing unparalleled performance.

In the early 1990s Sunbrella unveiled its softer side with stunning fabrics targeted at the interior design trade and now available in design showrooms across the country. Today, Sunbrella is used in a variety of innovative new products that offer creative solutions for consumers and the design community.
